The months of summer 2021 be a time of uncertainty regarding what we can do to continue the important human connection enjoyed by Rotary over the years. While the adage of 'hands in face space' is sure to be part of our ongoing practice, it's evident that trust is growing and more face-to-face connections occur. Rotary has certainly changed. In the summer of 2021, there is a lot of uncertainty in how our service to society includes the highly valued connections between people that were enjoyed by Rotary members of the past. It is not clear if the mantra "hands face space" is expected to be part of the routine It's evident there's an increase in optimism and the desire to connect face-to face. Rotary, however, has evolved. Rotary network is a great way to make lasting friendships. In addition to our meetings that are online to conduct business, we've re-introduced social interaction and service using a safe face-to-face way. These new possibilities have been paired with what we learned from our previous pandemics to provide a brand new outlook for Rotary. It's an encouraging thing to hear that 75 percent of Rotary clubs are planning to carry on their "business like usual" routines. In the summer months the majority of Rotary members have been out with their families and friends, working on various projects including river and beach cleanings and litter pick-ups. It was a pleasure to learn that during the most recent Rotary survey, 75% were still thinking about their usual activities and community projects that were helpful to communities throughout Great Britain. It is a great feeling to know to see that Rotary continues to be a part of the Rotary Centre continues to support numerous community initiatives that help the people who are members of Rotary and ensure their safety, compliance and Insurance are vital. The imagination and creativity of our members when it comes to finding solutions to some of the toughest challenges is amazing and I am so very happy that the chance to become a member of Rotary was given to me back in 2002. Rotary has given me a dependable network with like-minded people which has led to the creation of friendships that are genuine. It is important to invite our friends and family to join Rotary to truly make a positive difference.
